As Tigerapex.com pay for your flights and ferry home it normally is much cheaper to buy your car in England. We will contribute up to 100 Euros towards your travel costs. Importing a car into Ireland is really easy. In fact it is just like any other car in Ireland. You need to pay VRT, tax and insurance, the only difference is, your new car has never been in Ireland before so the VRT is new. Contact us for a VRT Quote.

If you bring a vehicle into Ireland from abroad you must show proof of ownership, which Tigerapex.com give you in the form of a full UK VAT invoice.

Tigerapex.com will supply everything you need by providing the vehicle registration document. The Certificate of Permanent Export will be completed for you by Tigerapex.com. Once in Ireland you then need to pay the applicable VRT by the end of the next working day following its arrival into Ireland. As the car is used, you will need to fill out a VRT4 form available here. You pay the VRT charged after your vehicle has been inspected at the VRO.

Once the vehicle has been registered by the Revenue Commissioners and the VRT paid, you will receive: A receipt for the VRT paid showing the registration number assigned to your car. You can obtain vehicle registration plates from any motor dealer. You must display the registration number within three days.

A RF 100 form for use when you are applying for motor tax available here. You must pay your tax to legally drive on Irish roads. This is done by going to your closest road tax office. You will receive your new Irish registration certificate after you have applied for motor tax.

If your imported car is over 4 years old you need to go through the NCT (National Car Testing) process. The NCT on an imported vehicle is due on the anniversary date of first registration in the country of origin. To complete your NCT: Simply take your Vehicle Registration Certificate to your nearest NCT centre and have the vehicle input on the NCT database so that a record of your vehicle is kept. The next day, a test can be booked for your vehicle by contacting NCT. Obviously this should be done immediately after the registration ticket is received if the car is already over 4 years old.

How is VRT calculated?

The VRT payable is a percentage of the "Open Market Selling Price" (OMSP). An On-Line VRT Enquiry System is available at www.ros.ie to view click here. You can use this to calculate a VRT estimate for a range of passenger vehicles. It is not possible to include exact information here on what the OMSP of your personal vehicle will be, it depends on market values at the time, the age, engine size and roadworthiness condition of your vehicle.
